Over 120 members attended our Crossrail Summit on Tuesday morning, hosted at The Avenue, Fitzrovia – which overlooks the Elizabeth Line station on Tottenham Court Road.

WPA members heard from senior officials, politicians and business leaders about the urgent need for supporting Crossrail 2. The Chairman for Crossrail Sir Terry Morgan CBE began the morning’s proceedings by explaining the transformational impact the Elizabeth Line will have on the West End.

After Sir Terry’s presentation, Deputy Mayor for Transport Val Shawcross CBE, outlined the case for Crossrail 2. She explained how this vital piece of infrastructure was important for relieving congestion on London’s transport network, unlocking land for new housing and for supporting Britain’s post-Brexit growth with new jobs and investment.

Jon Neale, Head of UK Research at JLL, then gave a presentation on the key findings of the WPA commissioned report ‘Crossrail 2: Catalyst for Growth in Central London’, before WPA Chairman James Cooksey moved on to the panel discussion.

Panellists included:

  • Michèle Dix CBE, Managing Director of Crossrail 2
  • Councillor Phil Jones, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Transport & Planning at Camden Council
  • Jon Neale, Head of UK Research, JLL
  • Jace Tyrrell, CEO of New West End Company
  • John Walker, Director of Planning, Westminster City Council

The panel discussion demonstrated the political unity and public/private partnership in the support for Crossrail 2. The summit was kindly hosted by Exemplar / Ashby Capital, and supported by JLL.
