LORD O’DONNELL CONFIRMED AS WPA ANNUAL LUNCH KEYNOTE SPEAKER

6 September 2017

Lord O’Donnell has been confirmed as the keynote speaker for the 2017 Annual Lunch. Gus O’Donnell served under three Prime Ministers between 2005 and 2011 as the Cabinet Secretary, the highest official in the British Civil Service.

He has publicly warned of impending chaos unless Government ministers unite over Brexit, and is perfectly placed to cast light on how he thinks Britain’s departure from the European Union will unfold, the impact on the country and to provide a unique insight into the upper echelons of power in Whitehall.Previously, he was Permanent Secretary of the Treasury from 2002-2005 and served on the IMF and World Bank Boards. He received a Knighthood in 2005, and was appointed to the House of Lords in 2012, sitting as a crossbencher not affiliated to any party. He joined the board of Brookfield Property Partners in 2013 as a non executive director, and Brookfield has agreed to sponsor this year’s Annual Lunch. Lord O’Donnell has also agreed to donate his fee to Pro Bono Economics,a charity which matches volunteer economists with charities to help them improve their impact and value.

Many thanks to all our members for purchasing tickets. The WPA Annual Lunch has once again sold out, with 80% of the 1,500 tickets available sold within 72 hours of going on sale.
