Westminster City Council will be publishing a new City Plan which creates a new policy framework for determining planning applications going forward. WPA was pleased to facilitate two members’ workshops (on 11 and 18 October) with Andrew Barry-Purssell, the council officer leading the City Plan review.
At both workshops, Andrew started the session with a presentation explaining that the new City Plan will provide a single, comprehensive and up-to-date statement of planning policy. Reflecting the council leadership’s priorities, it will place more emphasis on delivering housing, especially intermediate affordable housing in Westminster. He said there would likely be changes to Westminster’s mixed use policy, and a review of area designations – such as the Central Activities Zone boundary.
Members then asked questions and provided feedback on emerging policy proposals as part of roundtable discussions Chaired by Peter Bovill (WPA Board member and Partner at Montagu Evans) on 11 October and Alex Graham (Planning Director at Savills) on 18 October.
