What We Do

Westminster Property Association (WPA) is the voice of property in Central London. We champion Westminster’s and London’s built environment as a major driver for the economy of the UK.

Representing 250 members, the Association brings together property owners, developers, occupiers and professional advisers into a collective voice to inform policy makers and drive the economic prosperity of Westminster.

Property ownership in Westminster is diverse, including historic landed estates such as Grosvenor, the Portman, Howard de Walden and The Crown Estate, the smallest property companies and the major Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) such as Land Securities, British Land, Derwent London, and Great Portland Estates. Irrespective of size, we believe we share the same vision – in short, to promote Westminster and the importance of property development to its future success.

Any business working directly in real estate in Central London is able to join the Association. Our membership is across the full spectrum of the industry representing commercial, residential and retail sectors. We promote and defend the commercial property interests of our members, representing their views to Westminster planners and policy makers along with key London bodies, the Mayor’s Office and the media.

Working for the industry

Our principal focus continues to be planning and economic development policy in Central London and we maintain excellent working relationships with members and officers of Central borough council’s, principally Westminster City Council. We also take an active interest across other Westminster departments, central and retail, government and organisations that impact the built environment in Central London. We work closely with other key bodies including the British Property Federation, London First and our sister organisation, City Property Association. Our aim is to maximise the quality of the built environment by working together to target best practice and deliver the best real estate in the world.

A thriving network

Each year the Association delivers a range of social events, insight seminars and showcase receptions. These events bring together our membership to forge new business partnerships and are an opportunity to hear directly from senior politicians and policy makers.
