Our evening reception on Wednesday 27 November will celebrate the retrofitting of our built environment as the industry seeks to urgently upgrade and decarbonise its buildings to meet Westminster’s net zero city target by 2040.
Councillor Geoff Barraclough (Cabinet Member for Planning and Economic Development, Westminster City Council) will provide a keynote address highlighting the scale of the challenge Westminster faces in future-proofing its historic buildings, and the important role of the Retrofit Taskforce and the Sustainable City Charter.
Guests will also hear from Robbie Pitman (Managing Director – Development, Hines UK), who will provide an overview of the transformation of Hines UK’s headquarters, the Grainhouse. Once a former Victorian seed warehouse, it has been transformed into 91,000 sq ft of prime office and retail space. Re-imagined in line with its rich industrial heritage, whilst retaining key original features, the Grainhouse delivers the highest standards of workplace design and sustainability.
Guests will also have the opportunity to take tours of the building, alongside drinks and canapes.
