In our last WPA event of 2024, 86 members and stakeholders attended our evening reception at Hines’ headquarters, the Grainhouse, a recently retrofitted former industrial Victorian seed warehouse transformed into 91,000 sq ft of prime office and retail space in Covent Garden.
After a presentation on the development of the building by Robbie Pitman, members heard from both Cllr Matt Noble, and Andrea Merrington, who touched on the scale of the challenge faced in Westminster to future proof its 11,000 historic buildings and encouraged attendees to join the Sustainable City Charter to reduce emissions from Westminster’s buildings.
Special thanks to our hosts Hines and our speakers:
- Robbie Pitman, Managing Director of Development, Hines UK
- Cllr Matt Noble, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Renters at Westminster City Council
- Andrea Merrington, Chair of the WPA Planning and Sustainability Committee, Director of Planning & Place, The Howard de Walden Estate
Attendees then had the opportunity to go on building tours guided by the Hines team.
