On Tuesday 20 March, over 50 members from WPA and CPA (London Property Alliance) joined us for a pre-election breakfast briefing with the London Communications Agency to discuss and analyse the upcoming London local elections.
Speakers included:
Robert Gordon Clark, Executive Chairman at London Communications Agency
Chris Madel, Partner and Board Director at London Communications Agency
Professor Tony Travers, Director of LSE London
The seminar started with a contextual overview of the upcoming elections provided by Robert Gordon Clark who noted that housing was the number one election issue for Londoners. This was followed by a detailed analysis by Chris Madel on the political make up of 10 Central London boroughs (Camden, City of Westminster, Hackney, Hammersmith & Fulham, Islington, Lambeth, Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, Southwark, Tower Hamlets and Wandsworth), potential vote swings and what this might mean for development in those boroughs. The briefing ended with closing remarks by Professor Tony Travers and a lively Q&A session.
The event was hosted under the new name for joint WPA and CPA events and engagement, London Property Alliance, which will provide a platform for both associations to work closer with surrounding boroughs, the Mayor of London and central Government on key issues which impact central London real estate.
