“You are future leaders and London needs you” was the resounding message left by Kaela Fenn-Smith (Managing Director of Real Estate Balance) for the 200 young professionals that attended our NextGen Christmas Reception. Hosted at the Building Centre, in partnership with CPA and NLA with support from NextGen champions Gardiner & Theobald, the event marked the end of a busy year.
Attendees were greeted at the event by a selection of festive songs and classic hits performed by a five-person gospel choir prior to hearing an inspiring keynote speech from Kaela. Addressing those in attendance, Kaela outlined her impressive career journey and shared her tips on how to shape resilience in business and develop transactional skills. As the sector continues to develop and change, Kaela told the NextGen audience that the future should look towards ‘upgrading environments and cultures for all to succeed’.
Kaela’s top tips for NextGen colleagues:
1. Always be ambitious
2. Set yourself high and ask your companies to invest in your talent
3. Make your intentions known: self-development and curiosity are key attributes to leaders.
The festive evening proved a huge success, with Kaela’s speech followed by a music set by DJ Lisa Wright, mince pies and mulled wine.
